Medical Procedures and Contact Info

Medical Procedures

If you require medical attention at any time during the program, you can go to a public hospital or walk-in clinic and they will not charge you for their services.  You may have to wait to be seen if your condition is not urgent, but since medicine is socialized in the UK you will not pay.  If you do not want to wait to see someone, you can make an appointment with a private doctor’s office.  They generally charge £90-100 for a consultation, which you may be able to claim back on your US medical insurance (individual policies vary - you will need to confirm this with your own insurer).

When possible, you should contact your insurance provider in advance of any treatment.

At a private doctor’s office you should expect to pay the full amount of the bill upon release. You then will be issued a receipt that you’ll need to turn into your health insurance company for reimbursement.

In case of any needed medical treatment, please inform the program team as soon as possible.

If you are suffering any sort of depression or mental distress please contact the program manager immediately.  EUSA has a trained counsellor on-site or we can put you in contact with other therapists.
