Geneva is a very international city – so you’ll find all sorts of styles and fashions about town. You may find a lot of well-dressed people, you’ll see that the Genevois really do make an effort to look elegant, especially adults. It’s advisable to leave your college sweatshirts and baseball caps at home.
What to wear at work? It is tough to generalize on this one because we have placements ranging from suits and ties to sandals and jeans! However, if you are working in a business setting (i.e. a bank or law firm) you should bring at least one dark suit and several dress shirts and ties. We will let you know more once you’re placed. Regardless, when at work, try to have good shoes that are well polished (never running shoes) if you want to leave a good impression. The Swiss hold that if people make an effort to take good care of themselves, they will also make an effort in doing business.
