VILLANOVA CONTRACTS EUSA FOR INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM SERVICES

EUSA Provides Work Placements and Other Services for Villanova Students in London

BOSTON, July 10, 2002
EUSA has announced an agreement to provide housing and work placements in London for Villanova students participating in its International Summer Program. EUSA will enhance Villanova's "International Business Studies and London Internship" summer program by adding well-structured internships in all business fields and other study abroad services.

Building on a long-standing relationship, EUSA worked closely with Lance Kenney, Villanova's Director of International Programs, and Program Coordinator Peggy Chaudhry, Professor of Management, to define Villanova's specific program needs in order to structure optimal dates, costs, academic requirements, housing options and internship placements.

"A focus on international experience is an integral part of education at Villanova," said Kenney. "Not only does it appear in the university's mission statement, it is something we work toward every day. Our relationship with EUSA strengthens our ability to meet the needs of our students abroad. EUSA is a tremendous resource to support our staff on the ground in London."

"Our work with Villanova really sits at the intersection of two major trends in higher education," said Tony Johnson, EUSA Managing Partner in London. "We are helping Villanova combine practical experience -- specific to a student's field of study -- with an opportunity to gain professional exposure in an international setting."

EUSA, a pan-European educational organization in partnership with Boston University, offers made-to-measure European study abroad options for North American educational institutions. EUSA's European infrastructure allows colleges, universities, departments, programs, and individual professors to draw on nearly three decades of study abroad experience in order to create or enhance the international academic experiences they seek for their students. Now operating in London, Madrid and Dublin, over the next 15 months EUSA will begin operations in Paris, Brussels, Milan, Barcelona and Geneva.

Founded in 1842 by the Order of St. Augustine, Villanova University enrolls over 10,000 students, 6,200 of which are full-time undergraduates. The University offers 40 diverse undergraduate majors and 30 graduate programs in liberal arts and sciences, business, engineering, and nursing. Nearly 20% of this year's graduating senior class have participated in semester-long or summer international programs.
